Cycle for fun
I’m Helen Enevoldson and I organise the Get Active bike rides. I’m 51 years old and I’ve been riding a bike since I was child. I love cycling because it helps me to feel my best physically and mentally, it gets me out in the fresh air and countryside and I meet some really interesting and happy people while I’m doing it!
I’ve had the privilege of cycling in Europe, the Far East and New Zealand. A bike is a fantastic way to appreciate the scenery and sights as well as a way to meet local people. A good thing about cycling as exercise is it gives you a healthy appetite. On my travels I’ve enjoyed delicious local food without worrying about the calories because I soon pedal them off again.
I’d like everyone to have a go at cycling because it is the greatest all-round exercise. The Get Active bike rides welcome everyone, especially people over 45. We have comfortable bikes, good routes away from traffic, and some friendly places for a brew and social time.
