Take the First Step
The latest campaign from Bolton Council’s Sport, Health and Inclusion service targets people’s excuses for not doing physical activity and helps people to find solutions to suit their lifestyles.

The campaign aims to encourage people who are not exercising for at least 30 minutes 5 times per week to attend a First Step session.
The First Step sessions are run by physical activity professionals who will give advice on how to get started with physical activity. The sessions last one hour, no physical activity is involved, and they will cover:
- Discovering ways to become more active.
- Finding activities that are of interest to you and where they can be found in your neighbourhood.
- Useful information about the importance of being active and what level to be active to stay healthy.
- The knowledge you need to make responsible choices so you can take control of your own health and well-being.
- Information about exercising safely with health conditions.
What’s more the first 2000 people to take the First Step will receive a FREE First Step pedometer.
