hi everyone,
This is just to say a big big thank you to all who nominated me for The get active instructor of the year award 2011. I was extremely over whelmed at winning the award. We all had a great night and you all should be proud of what you have achieved in all the dances you have learnt over the last year. keep up the good work your dancing is fantastic well done.

To improve my health and fitness I decided to take up the challenge of cycling. Having not rode a bike since the age of 8 years old, I was very nervous about doing this I therefore sought help from Helen Enevoldsen from the Get Active Team who invited me to attend a cycling session at Leverhulme Par track and with Helen?s guidance it wasn?t long before I was cycling once again after all those years and managed a challenging 1 ½ miles around the track. It was a great feeling and a real sense of achievement . One week later, I have been on two one hour bike rides around Pennington Flash with a lot more planned for the future which I am really looking forward to. Thank you Helen, you were great!

If you've ever thought of trying yoga, we currently run classes in Horwich and Farnworth on Monday and Friday evenings.
Its a great way to help you get fit, become more flexible, and brings a greater range of motion to muscles and joints.
Increased flexibility and strength can help prevent the causes of some types of back pain. Many people who suffer from back pain spend a lot of time sitting at a computer or driving a car. That can cause tightness and spinal compression, which you can begin to address with yoga.
Why not come along and give us a try. The 1st class is half price, and we offer discounts for block bookings.

Hi -
Just want to suggest to everyone looking for physical & mental excercise & companionship to consider taking up GOLF at GT LEVER & FARNWORTH G.C. - it really is for everyone, from all ages 7 to 80+ , male & female - you dont need to have been good at any sport to develop, in a short time, enough ability to enjoy yourself - your never going to be a Tiger Woods, but who cares! You get daily from 2hrs - 4 hrs (however long you want) average physical excercise, a good laugh & chat to your partner(s), organised competition if you want it, tuition available, a nice friendly club with food, 2 bars and a snooker table. Whilst it is better if you can share this interest with a friend or partner, don't be put off if you are on your own, you will be looked after. The elderly & infirm ride on electrical buggies to get round the course and for many this is truly a lifeline. - Go on, give it a go, it is a lot cheaper than you think !!

The folk dancing on Tuesdays at Leverhulme Community Centre is a light-hearted way to get gentle exercise. We have a laugh and it has helped me as I battle depression.
